Howdy ya’ll! Rifle is back and ready to blog the crap out of Burton Baton brewed up by one of my favorite breweries, Dogfish Head! Let me tell you, they nailed it with this concoction. As you all know, Fatcat and I both have special place in our hearts for IPA’s. I especially dig Imperial IPA’s. If you like IPA’s in the slightest bit I advise you to continue reading. The story goes like this…..
It was a Thursday, I believe, and work was really kicking my ass. I couldn’t seem to please anyone and, even worse, I wasn’t getting the tasks done that I’d planned to accomplish. I’m sure you all know that feeling. As the day went on I started to think about beer. I’m sure you all know that feeling, too! At that moment I decided to treat myself and buy a “bonus beer” on my way home. After looking long and hard in the packy, I decided to go all out and pick up a 4 pack because Burton Baton caught my eye. I had to think twice about it tho. @ 15 bucks my wallet wasn’t feeling it. I read the label and to my surprise it was an Imperial IPA that packed a punch @ 10%ABV. I said to myself what the heck, Dogfish Head hasn’t let me down yet.
Off I went… During the ride home I couldn’t help but think about my day. I guess it wasn’t all that bad. Things were starting to look up especially cuz I had Burton Baton riding shotgun. I got home, kicked off my shoes, and headed straight for the kitchen. I found my Grolsch bottle opener and popped the top. The Taste immediately hit me. It was a bit citrusy and oaky, but not overwhelming like other oaks I’ve had in the past. I think I could taste hint of cinnamon which was a slight concern, due to fact that I’m mildly allergic to the spice. Nothing major, my lips just swell up with the thought of cinnamon. Don’t worry; I have Fatcat on speed dial if anything were to happen. During the afterTaste I could certainly feel and appreciate the alcohol screaming out of the bottle.
Burton Baton is the “real deal Holyfield”. Side note, my friend once said real deal Holyfield 30 times in one weekend. If you don’t believe me just ask Fatcat. Better yet you can contact him @ photolist.me. He goes by Carlo. Check out photolist.me it’s a pretty darn cool site he created.
I highly recommend Burton Baton Imperial IPA. If you’re looking for a strong Hoppy IPA this is the one for you.
